The following two compositions, The Cheerful Flutist and Gaelic Dance, were commissioned by Karen North for publication in her book, the Lyrical Flute Miniatures, published in 2024.

The Cheerful Flutist

There once was a friendly and cheerful flutist who, happy as a lark, loved to stroll in remote landscapes with an enchanted flute, playing sweet melodies that brought good humor to whoever happened to be on the same path!

Gaelic Dance

Through the magic of this little refrain, let yourself be drawn into the magical lands of the old Gaelic countries. With a little secret incantation of 14 to 17 syllables, which you will repeat 4 times (look for it around bars 5-6), you can fly off to the land of unicorns and magic flutes, and come back to also charm those who will listen!

The following composition, The Sprightly Muse in Soft-Soled Shoes, was commissioned by Karen North (Australia) for publication in her 2025 book, Inspiring Flute Duets.


Inspiring Flute Duets is an exciting collection of 15 original works, commissioned from leading contemporary composers, offering a fresh and expressive addition to the flute duet repertoire.


It features lyrical and meditative dialogues as well as energetic and rhythmic pieces. Several works imaginatively explore more advanced techniques, expanding the flutist's sonic palette.

The Sprightly Muse in Soft-Soled Shoes by Danielle Fournier is meant to be light and joyful: so, you can play it … with a little wink. Its frills, grace notes and triplets provide an opportunity to add variety in your tone or color and it ends in a lively finale of triplets.
